My Favourite Book
My favourote book is The Village in the Jungle.
It was written by Leonard Woolf. I read its Sinhala translation named as
Baddegama. It was translated into Sinhala by A. P. Gunerathne. It is a story
about a small village close to Hambantota. The main characters are Silindu, the
village hunter, his two daughters, Punchi Menika and Hinnihami and also
Silindu’s sister, Karlinahami . The village headman is Babehami and his wife is
Nanchohami. Fernando is a merchant from Kamburupitiya.
The story is about how the village headman along
with the merchant sends Silindu and his son–in–law, Babun to prison. Before
that, the villagers of Baddegama kill Hinnihami brutally. After that, Silindu
kills the merchant and the headman and goes to prison.
