ALOYSIUS COLLEGE
 Jaffna Junction, Anuradhapura
GRADE 07 (English Medium)
MONTHLY TEST

01.  Read the following passage and answer the questions given below.

Panda is a great black and white bear that lives in China. But, there are fewer pandas than almost any other animal in the world. Their total number is not more than 1200. Half of these live in special reserved areas, where no one is allowed to disturb or kill them. In China, there are eleven of these reserved areas.
Bamboo plants are the panda’s main food. A fully grown panda will eat about 15 kilos or 33 pounds of bamboo a day. But, the panda cannot eat bamboo when it is in flower. The flowers make it bad to eat. The bamboo flowers come only twice in hundred years. But, now all the plants in China seem to be flowering at the same time and the great pandas are dying. Only a great effort by Chinese scientists and the world wildlife fund can save them.
